Changes to Australian AVO Laws

AVO laws in Australia are currently doing very little to protect the people who invest in them. Domestic violence victims especially may find their attackers consistently breach the orders and are able to play the court system when brought before it for AVO breaches. This needs to stop; deaths like Melissa Cook's, a woman shot dead in broad daylight by her abusive ex husband, are preventable through stronger AVO and gun laws. This petition is to ask for more political attention and intervention in regards to domestic violence AVO issues, the drafting of harsher penalties for repeated AVO breaches, including jail terms, and for more information and support to be made available for people taking out AVO's.
