Pakistan Wajahat Nassar - Dec 24, 2007

This is being argued as a constitutional issue. I am afraid that we, as a people, are totally ignorant of both the US Constitution and the document on which it is based and from which it can not be separated: the Declaration of Independence (DoInd)! The DoInd clearly states "that to secure these (previously states) rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, . . ." The Constitution implements the Declaration and is not independent of it. The Constitution structures and LIMITS the Federal Government. The first ten amendments (the Bill of Rights) were proposed to further defing certain restrictions on the Federal Government as stated in the adopting resolution. The Congress was to MAKE law, the Judiciary was to JUDGE the compliance with the law. Note, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, . . ." That simply means that there shall me NO NATIONAL CHURCH! It restricts no one else. Anything else is a judicial construct WITHOUT ANY Constitutional basis. As such, the display should stay or go at the pleasure of the town!!!

why are we taking Christ out of Christmas? He sees and understands, so he is taking us out of his life. No rain. Go fig
Verenigde Staten allen ferguson - Dec 17, 2007

I believe not only should the display remain, BUT everyone signing this petition should put a similar display in their yard. Even if the Public display is ordered to be distroyed, they can not make us take them off of our own property. Imagine the impact of 5,229 displays as opposed to one.

1000words - All Christians that I know or have ever herd of, do acknowledge the one the season is for, JESUS. Please tell me , I can't understand, why do so many people who claim to be Christians say that Christmas is not acknowledged, unless the government acknowledges Christmas, even if everyone else and everything else does acknowledge Christmas. The Christians Religions, Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc., doesn't want the government to acknowledge any religion. John.
Verenigde Staten John Sudduth - Dec 16, 2007

No one gets upset about Santa... or a reindeer with a light bulb nose... why not acknowledge the one the season is named for. This says it best: One Solitary Life He was born in an obscure village The child of a peasant woman He grew up in another obscure village Where he worked in a carpenter shop Until he was thirty He never wrote a book He never held an office He never went to college He never visited a big city He never travelled more than two hundred miles From the place where he was born He did none of the things Usually associated with greatness He had no credentials but himself He was only thirty three His friends ran away One of them denied him He was turned over to his enemies And went through the mockery of a trial He was nailed to a cross between two thieves While dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing The only property he had on earth When he was dead He was laid in a borrowed grave Through the pity of a friend Nineteen centuries have come and gone And today Jesus is the central figure of the human race And the leader of mankind's progress All the armies that have ever marched All the navies that have ever sailed All the parliaments that have ever sat All the kings that ever reigned put together Have not affected the life of mankind on earth As powerfully as that one solitary life

Beverly Nichols - I am a God fearing Christian. IN GOD WE TRUST does not support any particular religion. Your statements about money don't mean anything unless you are saying that we should be like some middle eastern countries where the government is part of their religion. The Christian Religions agree with the law, they don't want their government to be involved in religion. Good Christians don't want government and religion mixed, even if it is their religion. We are not a Democracy, we are a Republic, a government of laws, not mob rule. Laws should be enforced, if you don't like the law, you can work to change it. If you change it, we can have a religious government like Iran. Your assumption that a display of Jesus is a problem for anybody is dumb, that display is wonderful when displayed by anybody except a government. Good Christians don't need to force themselves on others. John.
Verenigde Staten John Sudduth - Dec 15, 2007

John Sudduth: Whether you like it or not, God brought you into this world and He will be the one taking you out of this world. We are intelligent people, not seemingly. You speak about taxpayer support for "their" religion. Whenever something like this comes up in the news, I Just want to ask all of you one question.: Do you have a problem making and spending money? I thought not. Have you read your money lately? IN GOD WE TRUST is written on it. If a display of Jesus is such a problem for you, let's see you live without money. We can only continue to pray for you and the others who think a beautiful Nativity scene or any other God related document or statue has become an "issue" for the law. Please take your energy and focus on doing some greatness in this world, like serving others. Merry CHRISTmas John Mrs. Nichols
Verenigde Staten beverly nichols - Dec 14, 2007

Why do seemingly intelligent people lose all common sense when it comes to ' their ' religion. When considering other religions, the law is exactly right, but ' their ' religion is different, they want taxpayer support for ' their ' religion. Mr. Mayor, don't be so stupid, it's against the law, even if 100% of the people want it. You can't pick the laws that you will enforce, all laws will be enforced. If you don't like the law, work to change it. John.
