Petition created by: Jefferson Alumni Association "We, the undersigned citizens of this community and of the greater Portland area, request that Portland Public School Board members vote in favor of placing equitable comprehensive education at Jefferson High School. It is the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason. Keep Jefferson High School a Community Comprehensive School". Sign the petition! Details, Impact and Progress For over 40 years PPS policy and actions have cut and dismantled the educational programs at our cluster High School. The un-equitable education now offered at Jefferson High has impacted our neighborhoods livability. A comprehensive core program that is the same quality as offered at Grant and Lincoln will re-engage our neighborhood students. PPS estimates 1,651 High School Students living in the Jefferson cluster in 2014/15. In 2019 PPS estimates 2057 students will live in the Jefferson cluster. This would make it the largest cluster in the Portland district. Closing Jefferson as a neighborhood comprehensive High School forces those students to travel between 28 to 96 minutes, one way, increasing the carbon foot print of our city. If you believe in equality, stand up for our community! Comments Note: This service is provided as a service to TakingITGlobal Members.
