12 signatures so far! Petition created by: Paul Burke This petition is aimed at the Prime Minister Mr Gordon Brown. It proposes that due to the farcical revelations regarding MPs expenses, that the following happens: Immediate suspension of any expense claims. Investigation (Independant) of all outstanding claims. Total review of "system" ensuring that criteria is clear with no "grey areas". Any members guilty of submitting "improper" claims to PAY IT BACK Any extreme cases to be subject to additional disciplinary action. See full details below. REACT to REGAIN Respect! 12 have signed so far - help us get to 20,000. We have achieved 0.06% of our goal. Let's keep going! Sign the petition! Details, Impact and Progress We have had months of information "leaking" out of chambers giving many, and varied examples of MPs expence claims which either beggar belief or ignite extreme anger and emotion. Over recent days this has become even more evident, with evidence emerging of claims for tax breaks, homes, diy, luxury items, pornography and other totally unacceptable items. Mr Brown insists that it is the "system" that is wrong. I would comment that many systems are open to abuse. But we should not expect or accept that elected officials are the type of people that should be guilty of such abuse. The system is only as poor as those who misuse it. In business, any employee submitting "improper" claims would be gulity of Gross Misconduct, lose their job, and pay the claims back. Unemployed people on benefits, if found to be claiming "improperly" have their benefits suspended, and have to pay sums back. If Mr Brown wants to reinstate some integrity back into the party, and indeed all parties, this action needs to take place now. Join me in showing this government that the British Public have come to a point in time where we refuse to continue to be treated like fools.
