Petition created by: Maria Nanabhai

Did you know how much paper is wasted by examinations? Even those thick text books from which people study? Exam question papers? Answer papers? Papers cost trees. Trees cost us. Trees go, animals go too, and we are history. Humans are dependent on trees for life. We don't need to use paper anymore. If we don't waste paper like this, we CAN save the world's rain forests and stop Global Warming. We have the latest, greatest technologies. If we can use them to watch music videos, why not write exams. If we can chat and connect so easily, why can't we and our teachers. Online exams save time, space and PAPER. Have you seen the movie "Astro Boy"? In there, they are writing an exam through computers. These things already exist, we just need to use them.

Also many students get stress, illnesses and even commit suicide because of examinations.

So sign this petition and help to save Earth and get some stress of your back. If we can reach our goal, the petition will be sent to some education officials, and who knows, maybe you might be typing and emailing your answer "paper" to your teacher!

We have achieved 2% of our goal. Let's keep going!

Details, Impact and Progress

Exams waste paper!

Statistic examples:
- 6.3 million sheets of paper are consumed each year in the James L. Walker Library alone.
- The paper consumed by the Library equals 700+ trees.
- If you laid out all the used paper, it would stretch 1100 miles.
- Stacked, the paper would reach 2100+ feet high.
- When paper-costs exceed the Library's budget, the rest is pulled from tuition funds. This affects ALL students.
