South Yemen seeks the restoration of its independence after a failed 1990 merger with North Yemen as the unified “Republic of Yemen” and a bloody civil war in 1994 to regain its sovereignty. The United States has sought to turn South Yemen into a “killing field” for drone-launched missile attacks and a playground for U.S. Special Operations forces all of which aim to defuse and replace reality with different hegemonic image of Aqapa and others stories of Iran involvement so as to support a continuous occupation of South Yemen by North Yemen in the name of Union. The major group fighting for South Yemeni independence is the South Yemen Movement, also known as “Harak.” It is primarily led by former South Yemeni government leaders.
