Details, Impact and Progress It's up to us to keep a good thing going. Vote YES! To extend the funding that keeps our Forest Preserves growing. We can replace older bonds and keep our tax rate the same. For not one penny more, we can ensure our Forest Preserves continue to grow and improve for all us to enjoy, now and for generations to come. Lake County is one of the fastest growing areas in Illinois. Every year there is more traffic congestion, more urban stress and fewer open, natural areas. By continuing to buy open space to expand our Forest Preserves, we can strike a natural balance with growth and development. Land prices and bond interest rates are favorable now. Now that it's Fall season, the leaves may be changing but our tax rate doesn't have to. Here is the ballot language we need to VOTE YES on: Shall the Lake County Forest Preserve District, Lake County, Illinois borrow money and issue bonds to acquire and improve forest preserve and restore wildlife habitats, trails and greenway corridors, wetlands, prairies, and forests; to provide flood control; and to create and improve public use areas fro recreation, education and historic facilities in an amount not to exceed $185 million.
