Alice Homer is 21 years old and has a condition called fowlers syndrome which is when the bladder goes in to retention and stops working. This has caused bladder stones and constant intense pain which Alice has to endure. She has had to stop work and spends long spells in hospital. The operation Alice wants is Sacral nerve stimulation (SNS), which is a process whereby small electrical pulses stimulate nerves in the lower back (just above the tail bone). The nerves stimulated are those involved in control of bladder sensation. This operation could change Alice's life, but is not available in our home town of Sheffield. Alice would have to travel to Wakefield for the op, and was told that this would be possible for her. However.........Due to 'Lack of NHS funding' this is now not available.
