The killing of dolphins is inhumane. The whole situation has started due to the selfishness of certain individuals where they have ruined the lives of animals as well as humans. 9 have signed so far - help us get to 2,000. Details, Impact and Progress Every September each year over 23 000 of the dolphins that are captured in Japan (Taiji) are killed. If you go to taiji as a tourist you will see that wherever you look it seems as if the people prays and worship dolphins, but this all is propaganda to hide the fact that in an excluded an secure area on the shore of taiji is a breath taking place of horror. The dolphins are chased by Japanese fishermen on small tug boats by hitting long metal rods with hammers. the dolphins are chased to an area unseen and restricted to most people as its surrounded by steep cliffs and if you try hard enough to go and see what is really happening behind these rocks the Japanese fishermen would chase you away. The dolphins are violently stabbed killing them in a inhumane manner and the meat is then sold to people. Unfortunately the dolphin meat has very high levels of mercury due to living conditions in polluted water. if humans eat the dolphin meat which has high levels of mercury they could phase abnormalities as well as there children like the ability to not hear or speak or see. The people of Japan are unaware of the high mercury levels in the meat and in some cases they think they're buying dolphin meat but instead some other meat. The dolphins captured in taiji that are kept alive are sold to dolphin trainers to make a profit for themselves.
