Glasgow Funds for Domestic Abuse Victims

Margaret Curran MSP is calling for greater funding for the victims of domestic abuse in Glasgow East. Given the recent statistics, released by the Assistant Chief Constable of Strathclyde Police, which demonstrated a sharp increase in domestic abuse following Old Firm games, Glasgow requires better resources than those currently available. The Glasgow East Women's Aid is an outstanding organisation but it currently only has places of refuge for 5 victims of domestic abuse and around 20 women are on the waiting list. Margaret Curran would like the Scottish Government to provide direct funding to local organisations in the City of Glasgow so that they may help all those victims in need of refuge.
