Clearly there has been a large misconception in society that honour killings are directly connected to Islam. There has never been any sanction of any killing in Islam whether for honour or revenge as all life is considered as sacred in Islam. Islam was the first religion to give women equal rights and status, their choice to marry, and equality among men and women when meteing out justice, and this was shown by Prophet Muhammed's conduct during his lifetime. Neither is female genital mutilation permitted in Islam. These crimes against women are being conducted falsely in the name of Islam.
