Details, Impact and Progress

It is apparent that the proposed planning for Market Street and Sheep Street by Kettering Borough Council is flawed in areas of support for the small businesses along the street in respect of the lack of parking facilities (i.e no parking incentives for customers and visitors) and easy access to pubilc transport(i.e relocating the bus stops further away from the town centre).
The council has shown a complete disregard to the plight of our elderly citizens living within the confinement of the area and to expect them to walk up market street hill is quite honestly deplorable and from all traders point of view the availability of the easy and convenient access to public transport is a crucial necessity for the survival of all shops trading in the proposed planning areas for many of the existing and potential clients.Passing trades is an important aspect of building our businesses as they get noticed by the flow of public transport users.
We therefore petition Kettering Borough Council in respect of their proposed improvements to Market Street and Sheep Street.
We the undersigned petitioners reject the said proposed improvements due to lack of vision by Kettering Borough Council which seems to be hell bent in penalising the residents and shoppers with the removal of the existing public transport convenience and not providing easy and convenient access for car parking facilities adjacent to the businesses.
Is it Kettering Borough Council main objective to bring about the potential closures of many hardworking businesses and therefore increasing to the already many empty retail premises in the town?.
Is it Kettering Borough Council uncaring and unreasonable attitude to make our senior citizens walk further distance to access public transport?.
