Petition created by: jessica many teens in the U.K are currently doing their GCSE's and are finding it extremely stressful and time comsuming.i am one of those. the basic life of a hard working GCSE student: monday: get up-get ready-school-after school revision/coursework classes/home-teatime-revision/coursework-bed.! AND REAPEAT ALL WEEKDAYS saturday: get up-breakfast- coursework and revision throughout the day-bed AND REPEAT FOR SUNDAY so one comes to think... " when do the students get time to, spend quality time with their family,friends,exercise,relax and most importantly sleep (because most students,particulary the ones who are working extremly hard,stay up till late perfecting their 800 word essay for example). so wouldnt it make sense to make more time for these students to do the mammoth amount of work? is it right that not only our precious younger years of primary school are took away but now our teen years!?! once we finish the GCSE's we will be going on to collage/sixth form etc.. then either uni/full time employment and getting ready to leave our families. i dont know about you,but the only time from birth to leaving home we ever get to spend time with our families ,is when we learning to walk! we are mentally and physically tired and cannot wait for the summer holidays . i would gratefully accept just one more school year to get everything done and im not behind with coursework but how can school expect us to do so much work. the other day my maths teacher admitted that we will NEVER need the majority of the stuff we need to know for maths exams in our future lives ! what is the point then? what is the point of the 7/8 hours in total of maths i did last week if it is not needed in the future!?! A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME ! when with that time i could be with my family... so ,to get back to the description of this petetion... i propose one extra year,not complusory but optional. if a student finds they are under to much stress and pressure when they are into their second year of GCSE's they can then apply for another year. if they can do eveything in the two years then fair enough. OR.. the goverment re think what exactly our education priorities are in terms of what is definatly needed in future life and what isnt. then maybe we dont get unessassry informtion like i was saying about maths. please...if you agree with me then sign up. thank you for reading.
