Petition to keep Artist Stan Bullards Sculpture in the Beeston community

We need your help to convince Stan Bullards Family that keeping his Totem Pole Sculpture in Beeston is what Stan would have wanted. It is also what friends of Stan would want & the community in order to remember him by. Stan Bullard spent most of his working life involved with community, he spent many years as a teacher & then later in life, until his death he was a self employed artist, working mainly in Wood Sculptures, Wood cut prints & Etchings.

Upon the hour of Stans death, his dying wish was that he be remembered through his art, I have since made him a website & a facebook page but ideally to have a physical piece of art in the community would be a perfect symbol & memorial of Stan & his life long commitment to community art work. Everyone that has ever met Stan understands why this would be his last wish, as art was his life, an expression of life itself that he loved so dearly.

Beeston Council have already agreed to place the sculpture at a park in Beeston, where it can be viewed by all, if only we can convince his family that this would be the best thing to do for Stan & the community.

I was fortunate to see Stan's work, including his totem pole, shortly before he died. He loved his work to be seen and it would be very appropriate for it to remain in Beeston and be on display in a public place to be enjoyed by many people.

Stan's memory lives on through his art, PLEASE let the totem pole stay! That way people can continue to enojy his work. He was a wonderful artist and a lovely, lovely person.

Surely this is part of Beeston's heritage. To not recognise Stan's contribution to the community would be an injustice. His family must take pride in the fact that the Beeston community values his art as part of its heritage.

Having known Stan for many years, observing him work at home and knowing his passion for art, I believe he would be thrilled that the Totem pole which he displayed out in his garden for all to admire would remain and continue to be admired by all within the community where he lived and worked for so many years. I hope his family can see fit to honour his work and respect his dying wish. They must be very proud!

I met this artist once when we were looking around his neighbors house, which was for sale. The totem pole outside sparked the conversation and he had so much passion and obviously thoroughly loved art, I am very sorry to hear he has passed away. There is no way that any of his work should be removed. To make way for the new we are always so flippant of the old, and we never fight to retain any heritage - we should support local artists, be proud we have them and the diversity and uniqueness they bring.

I think it is discusting that the council are going to spend money on removing a brilliant piece of art that was designed and made by talented local artist!
