Arabian Gulf

Arabian Gulf

Name grows out of being just an allegory of the object, it becomes the identity of the object itself and will interlink infinitely with the name it accepts, with the name it is assigned, in a way that will forever make its emancipation impossible. The stigma of a name can't be erased but it can be concealed and hidden from being used in day-to-day reference, because dealing with the name will reinstate the power or the so called territorial claim neighboring regions are accused of.
The Gulf located west of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has much disputed names, two of these names take on a great deal of the controversy that has been roaming around the original name of the gulf, namely, (No pun intended) Arabian Gulf and Persian Gulf.
In most today's geographical maps, atlases, and political documents, the gulf is referred to as Persian Gulf. However the name that is widely accepted by people of well rounded knowledge of the area is the Arabian Gulf.
Regardless of today's political divides, a profound understanding of the people who occupied the lands surrounding the gulf in the old times is vital, they were Ahwaz or Ahvaz, these people are Arabian, not only did they live on the west coast of the gulf but on the east coast as well. Given that Arabian people occupied the coasts of gulf, one would assume naming the gulf as Arabian would have been imperative. But Persia Today Known as Iran has policies and regional possessions that make it one of modern day's imperialist countries. It rules areas that have in various historical contexts enjoyed sovereignty including those on the east side of the gulf (Ahwaz).
Had this evidence been the only evidence supporting why Arabian Gulf should be named as such, this petition wouldn't have been started. But intellectuals such as Jean-Pierre, a Professor of National Institute for Eastern Languages and Civilizations (1990) in Paris spoke out on the fabrications that were meant to support labeling the gulf falsely.
All evidence must be examined meticulously and objectively, for a correct conclusion to be drawn. This conclusion is as I believe will lead to one answer, the Arabian Gulf. If you agree, allow your voice to be heard on every possible platform, including this one, and allow this petition to become the threshold of uprooting the malignant oppressive attempts that deny people their fundamental connection with their ancestors and lands.
I have every respect to Persian culture and ancient civilization and I understand that perhaps many Iranians themselves will agree with me. If not then I am certain that differences will only cultivate the will for endeavor and research through documents that may provide an absolutely true answer which could eliminate any doubts, just as long as we are not allowing preconceived knowledge to cloud our vision or hurdle our understanding.
