Virgin Atlantic has issued a news release trumpeting the launch of Google Glass, the digital snooping spectacles, on its service. They say their staff at London's Heathrow will use the snoopy specs to "deliver the industry’s most high tech and personalised customer service yet."
The Google Governance Campaign opposes the use of Google Glass because this wearable video camera with internet connectivity is the latest offering by a company that has track record of ignoring consumers' right to privacy. Now thanks to Virgin Atlantic, a trip to the airport means not just an overly familiar service but the sharing of more data about you with Google and its advertising funders. It's time to make a stand for privacy. Virgin - do the right thing - tell Google to Track Off.
