Wales are a proud nation! A good team so please put them on!
Here's the letter I wrote to EA:
Hello,
I am contacting you to tell you how disgusted I am at EA Sports for not including a very respected national side. This national side which has fans that are extremely proud of their country, extremely honored to be that nationality - I am, of course, talking about the Welsh national team.
I want you to tell you how disrespectful your company is, and how insulted the Welsh gamers are at your company for thinking you can decide who gets to go on your game.
Let me get something straight here, you put Scotland, England, NI, Republic of Ireland on the game but NOT Wales. How is this fair? It actually upsets me to some degree because as a Welsh person, I am fed up of Wales not being acknowledged at all by other nations as a country.
We are a very, very proud nation. It's already not fair that Wales have never had a replica kit in the few games you have included our team, but at least then we were in the game that has such a big fanbase in the UK, so why leave out Wales? Known for being the proudest nation in Britain?
I am writing to you not to complain, but to declare my 15 years of purchasing, playing and enjoying FIFA Football games, over.
This is very sad for me because aside from Wales not being on the game, it is a very good game compared to your rival, PES.
But playing PES a few times, I understand they have included the Welsh football team in all their games so I guess seems as though they respect our little country, I will be investing my money into a kinder franchise, one that does not mock my national team.
I am very disappointed in you EA, I know for definite that you will not respond to this e-mail because you did not even respond to the 'Wales on Sunday' newspaper's e-mail. I will click that little 'send' button, though, in hoping that one worker at EA has the common courtesy to read a dedicated - former - fan's e-mail, and understand what I am saying and hopefully pass on the word.
For that one person who does read this e-mail, thank you for reading, and please understand this:
How would you feel if EA left out your home nation on your favourite game?
Yours,
Gareth Baker.
