Save the Scenic Santa Ritas

Save the Scenic Santa Ritas

Please sign this petition against the imminent threat to the beautiful Santa Rita Mountains, in the Southwest Arizona. The Rosemont Copper Mine Project wants to start mining in a National Forest near Tucson, AZ. This would be a 6,000 feet long, 6,500 feet wide and 2,800 feet deep, open pit mine. Rosemont is a Canadian mining company, promising an incredible boost in the local economy. Yes maybe for few years, leaving behind pollution, environmental disaster, affecting all the fauna and the flora and all the beautiful places locals and tourists love to go to enjoy nature. In an analysis prepared for the Mountain Empire Action Alliance (T. Power and D. Power, V) It is highly likely that the “relatively modest” positive economic impacts of the Rosemont mine will be completely offset by equally modest negative impacts on the visitor economy and amenity supported in-migration. For that reason, it is also highly likely that the Rosemont Mine would, overall, damage the economic vitality and the economic well-being of the Greater Tucson area. Think about the children and their future be kind to nature, save the Santa Rita Mountains!

Hello, Do not put up the 160 acres for auction that would allow Hudbay to purchase it. The Rosemont Mine project needs to end, so that there will no polluting of our ground water. Aubry Hemingway
